It was a game. Someone wrote the attributes down (most likely Sugar), and someone else in the crew drew how they thought Gem would look. I don’t think Rebecca herself drew Concrete. I think it was Lamar.

So I looked through some Concrete posts.

I noticed that fanart of her (and very cute art, I might add) was liked by Lamar Abrams, who works on the show.

You think he was the one who originally drew her?

What if Concrete was the original concept for Bismuth?

Similar Gem placement and a material rather than a Gemstone?

Bismuth is a much, much better execution if that’s the case.

I think the one on the LEFT is a fake. I recently saw the Tumblr with the Jasper and Pearl, and I know that’s real. There hasn’t been a source for the left picture yet, though.

One of the official comic illustrators (Coleman Engle) drew a few Jaspers, including a fusion of her and Pearl.

EDIT: Coleman posted the fusion, but I don’t know the source for the picture on the left.
