I can understand how a very vocal fandom or one known for problems can give a person a worse viewpoint of whatever media they’re into, but really, not everyone in the fanbase is going to be like that. It’s just that people are way more focused on seeing the “bad” parts of a fanbase rather than the “good” parts.
Of course the controversies are going to be talked about more. I never really understood the concept of hating something solely for its fanbase. I can understand getting annoyed by it, but not hating it SOLELY from them. I can still enjoy Steven Universe and even Undertale despite all the “negativity” surrounding the fanbases. The actual content has nothing to do with the fanbase itself. That’s just my opinion, though.
