Every Gem is made for a purpose – to serve the order of the Diamonds. Those who cannot fit inside this order must be purged! To come out misshapen, to reshape yourself outside your purpose, and to defend this ruined, worthless planet is a disgrace!
So Pink turned into Rose and that likely turned her into a disgrace, falling away from her original purpose of being a Diamond, a leader of Homeworld. But still with that she couldn’t escape what she was made for, she was still a leader even as a Rose Quartz. Which eventually lead her into being Steven
Yellow calls humans disgusting yet for a fact we know Pink LOVED them and loved Earth. It seems like more than anything she’s just out to bash anything of Pink’s at any given moment.
In the concept art for Steven’s Dream it again shows Pink’s love for humans in Blue’s dialogue.
“Ah… She loved these.”
Rose was all about gems being able to change what they were made for. What better way to start the rebellion than showing that a Diamond of all gems could change? Pink wasn’t poofed or shattered when she stepped down from her palanquin, no, she changed. She changed into a Rose Quartz. And Yellow is disgusted with that and tries to cover it up.
What sort of message would that send to other gems, especially to the other Diamond who was so, so close to Pink? Homeworld would fall apart.
Pink Diamond never refers to herself again as Pink Diamond, only going by Rose Quartz. Why would Pink only have one colony? She doesn’t want to be a Diamond.
She doesn’t want to conquer and destroy, she LOVED Earth and wanted to save it. Pink becoming Rose would have been the ultimate message to show that Homeworld is wrong, and it’s good to be whoever you want. But no, Yellow couldn’t have that. She covered it up as soon as she could, viewing Pink and the entire rebellion as a disgrace and as something that needed to be destroyed.
Pink was never shattered, it was a cover-up from Yellow, being disgusted with her change and likely in fear that Blue would leave and change, too.
And honestly, I think that’s the ultimate message. Don’t be what your family and other people want you to be, be yourself, who YOU want to be.
This is actually a really good take on the “Rose is Pink Diamond” theory!
an extended version of “we are the crystal gems” at the end of the series with every gem throughout the series being shown and padparadscha sapphire going “WE” when she’s on-screen
After rewatching The Trial, I realized that the compliments given to the Diamonds are based on their light and gemstone.
Like, the words lustrous, luminous, radiant, glimmering, brilliant, and opulent are all used. Outside of “opulent”, all of these can easily be used to describe an actual gemstone, like a “brilliant” cut.
OMG! Do you think that the pearl thar makes up Rhodonite, is PINK DIAMONDS PEARL? Maybe when Pink died, Pink pearl was left to die away. And the Ruby helped her to get ober her feelings of loneliness. Just a mini theory lol
While the Pearl and Ruby had pinkish colors, I don’t think that it’s THE Pearl that belonged to Pink. I think she was just a Pearl assigned to Morganite.
The reason Fluorite talks so slowly is because it’s a fusion comprised of around six Gems, so it takes a while for them all to process what they want to say.
They’re VERY likely a Pearl and a Ruby. While the Ruby’s Gem placement is exactly like Navy’s, I’m not sure if they’re the same Ruby. I feel that she’d have a much harsher reaction to Steven being there.
I think that this was a Ruby that was assigned a Pearl for her hard work (Eyeball mentioned being able to get her own Pearl for example), but they had feelings for each other and wanted to fuse, which the Diamonds very clearly weren’t happy with.
Or this actually CAN be Navy and her very own Pearl that she was assigned for what she did in Room for Ruby, but things went wrong. They also look pretty “incomplete”, like how cotton candy Garnet looked in The Answer.
Something I’m really curious about in regards to Lars’ Head.
The last screenshot shows Steven emerging from Lars’ hair with a bag. I’m guessing that Lars’ dimension is far different from Lion’s? It sort of looks like a bag from the Big Donut, or maybe even a lunch that Lars’ mom or dad made for him. Maybe the dimensions created by a revived creature are based on areas they’re usually located in. That would explain why Lion’s is a giant field with absolutely nothing else besides Rose’s belongings.
The “leaked credits” for The Trial? It was a pretty elaborate fake. SULeaks brought up that the music used in the credits was actually a popular fan remix. I also noticed that Aquamarine was on the list even though she left during Stuck Together while Blue Diamond’s name was completely absent.
If all of these episodes are airing on the same day, we’re going to get leaks of the first two minutes and screenshots of each one ALL AT THE SAME TIME.
There was this interview with Rebecca Sugar from TheWrap. The section about Jasper was really interesting in particular:
After she’s defeated by Steven and Amethyst, Jasper refuses
the help that Steven gave to previous adversaries like Peridot and
Lapis. Why is that?
Jasper is very different than Peridot and Lapis. Unlike them, she has
a deep hate for herself because of her origins on Earth. She is
determined to never be weak or vulnerable. So at the point when she’s
the lowest, there’s no way she’d ever accept help, because she believes
she doesn’t deserve it.
Peridot and Lapis both believed they deserved better than what
happened to them, but not Jasper. She went back to Earth to face her
demons, and she lost. She’s consumed by her own self pity.
I saw your comment on the 1 year anniversary of Super Watermelon Island, you said that we haven't seen Jasper in a year, except that there was an entire arc around her during the summer?
Alone at Sea (gets booped back into the ocean by Lapis), Gem Hunt (punches a beast and gloats for a few seconds), Crack the Whip, Beta (at the very end), and Earthlings were the only episodes really focused on Jasper herself.
I don’t know, I just think the show needs a little more Jasper screentime after how important of a character she was hyped up to be since The Return, and ESPECIALLY after her screaming about Pink Diamond. That alone got me more interested in her backstory.
I hope that they didn’t completely forget about Jasper.
I’m not sure how much of the show is left, but I honestly hope that they don’t keep Jasper corrupted and bubbled for the remainder of the show. It’d be nice for them to go back to her at some point. She has a lot of potential for more character development.
I hope they don’t ditch Aquamarine and Topaz either after these upcoming episodes.
