There’s something I never understood about the “White Diamond is a fusion” theory.
If White Diamond was a Diamond fusion, wouldn’t the Gems that make up the fusion still remain on her chest (and stomach if Pink was involved)? Why would it move to her head?
Every Gem is made for a purpose – to serve the order of the Diamonds. Those who cannot fit inside this order must be purged! To come out misshapen, to reshape yourself outside your purpose, and to defend this ruined, worthless planet is a disgrace!
So Pink turned into Rose and that likely turned her into a disgrace, falling away from her original purpose of being a Diamond, a leader of Homeworld. But still with that she couldn’t escape what she was made for, she was still a leader even as a Rose Quartz. Which eventually lead her into being Steven
Yellow calls humans disgusting yet for a fact we know Pink LOVED them and loved Earth. It seems like more than anything she’s just out to bash anything of Pink’s at any given moment.
In the concept art for Steven’s Dream it again shows Pink’s love for humans in Blue’s dialogue.
“Ah… She loved these.”
Rose was all about gems being able to change what they were made for. What better way to start the rebellion than showing that a Diamond of all gems could change? Pink wasn’t poofed or shattered when she stepped down from her palanquin, no, she changed. She changed into a Rose Quartz. And Yellow is disgusted with that and tries to cover it up.
What sort of message would that send to other gems, especially to the other Diamond who was so, so close to Pink? Homeworld would fall apart.
Pink Diamond never refers to herself again as Pink Diamond, only going by Rose Quartz. Why would Pink only have one colony? She doesn’t want to be a Diamond.
She doesn’t want to conquer and destroy, she LOVED Earth and wanted to save it. Pink becoming Rose would have been the ultimate message to show that Homeworld is wrong, and it’s good to be whoever you want. But no, Yellow couldn’t have that. She covered it up as soon as she could, viewing Pink and the entire rebellion as a disgrace and as something that needed to be destroyed.
Pink was never shattered, it was a cover-up from Yellow, being disgusted with her change and likely in fear that Blue would leave and change, too.
And honestly, I think that’s the ultimate message. Don’t be what your family and other people want you to be, be yourself, who YOU want to be.
This is actually a really good take on the “Rose is Pink Diamond” theory!
